Welcome 2 Bedlam (The hottest sunglasses in the universe)

As a lover of sunglasses I was ecstatic to find this awesome sunglass company BEDLAM. I wasn't happy about sharing my exclusive sunglass find with Everyone (sometimes a girl likes to keep a few fashion secrets 😉)

I had a change of heart because as a buisness woman  I know that word of mouth is everything and this company is so phenomenal I would love to see it prosper.

Black Wall street picked the brain of  Ms. Bettie Sixx about her brainchild. So without further ado WELCOME 2 BEDLAM.

BW-Can you tell us about your company bedlam and what sparked you to use such a unique name?

BL-began Bedlam in October of 2010 with my business partner B.Hall. I have been making accessories and embellishing glasses since I was a junior in high school, so for about a million years now, lol. I started embellishing glasses because I actually wear prescription glasses and I used to be teased for it or told that I would be "prettier without glasses," So instead of conforming and asking for contact lenses I decided to start embellishing my own glasses and I just fell in love with it.

When I decided to make a business out of what I do, I wanted a name that reflected my personality and style sense. I am a little crazy, weird, awkward, abnormal, eccentric, whatever you want to call it, lol, but I still love very beautiful things so I needed a name that embodied all of that. I was going through a thesaurus with a close friend of mine and we stumbled across the word Bedlam, which means the place of uproar and noise; beautiful chaos. And that stuck. I think that "beautiful chaos" is the perfect description for the type of woman that I am and many other women as well.

BW-What does bedlam sale?

BL- we sell custom embellished eyewear, shoulder eppaulettes, ties and bow ties. We used to sell many other types of accessories but we've decided to hone in on our perfected skills. Also there are so many other great earring makers out of the bay area and we really want to offer something aside from that.

BW-Who is Bedlams ideal customer?

BL-Bedlam's ideal customer is someone who is abnormal and they relish in their abnormalities.

BW-What made you start your own company?

BL- Honestly, peer pressure, lol. I really had no desire to make a business out of what I do but my family and friends kept pressuring me into do it. I am very introverted person and I am sort of a recluse so I really wasn't looking forward to the wave of popularity I received, but at the end of the day I am glad that I took their advice. I love Bedlam and all of the Bedlamaniacs. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Behind the lens with Al Cole

Welcome to Black-Wallstreets interview with the man behind the lens Al Cole. I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Cole on a photo shoot and was so pleased with the results that I want to share him with the world. So if your looking for a photographer he's your man.

BW- Can you tell us a little about yourself and  How did you first get involved in photography?
AC- Born in New York City, raised in Harlem as an only child…  Alfonza Coleman III aka “Al,” had a passion for the arts & crafts at a very young age.  He especially loved drawing.  A trait inherited from his late grandmother J.H. Blades & his Uncle Ivan.  He spent many weekends with his grandmother and she enabled him to express himself through his artwork.  His Uncle Ivan, often sent him customized gift cards for his birthday, holidays and just because he felt like it – his Uncle being a very talented artist himself.  Al was just a natural; he had a natural eye and could create masterpieces from sight or from memory.

Later on in life, he attended high school at A. Philip Randolph CHS and in his senior year he met and befriended his photography & art class teacher Mr. Biles.  He was a top student in both his classes and then Al joined the yearbook committee that Mr. Biles supervised as the photo editor and was given his first camera, a simple Canon Digital 5.0 MP.  It was love at first click for Al; the yearbook was a huge success.  Al was around for every event; some students even nicknamed him “Mr. Paparazzi,” because he was always around clicking.  This love affair continued, and he carried it to college at Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, New York.  He studied Digital Photography A.S.

Five years later and after a lengthy photography sabbatical… he purchased his first DSLR Camera, a used Canon EOS Rebel XS from a co-worker who was upgrading his own camera equipment.  It was the perfect start up camera to rekindle his love for photography.  Wasting no time, he jumped head first into his very first project as the set photographer for a movie called “Love, Sex & Kung Fu,” written and executive produced by his martial arts instructor, Professor Mahaliel Bethea Sr. better known in the entertainment world as “Sensei Mo.”  He was nervous at first and had forgotten a lot about the basic functions of a REAL camera, but he was determined and he re-taught himself through trial and error. Fortunately, his EYE for THE SHOT never left him.  His photos for the movies were a huge hit among all those involved with the project, and a lot of work followed.

In early 2011, he started Alcole Photography on facebook, twitter & Model Mayhem.  From models, to actors, athletes, makeup artists, hairstylists, designers and just people that wanted to work with his brand.  Alcole Photography is building a name for himself.  He takes a personal approach to his business.  It’s all about building valuable relationships with his clients.  He understands the importance of delivering more than a just a pretty picture… The job is to communicate a specific message to a predetermined audience in a way that will stand out and get noticeable results.  That is what visual communication is all about.  His shoots are fun, chill & creative.  He offers direction in both posing and expression, patiently walking you through the shoot and no matter what your experience level to make sure you rock it.  Not just his shoot, but the next one as well.

BW- What do you find most challenging about photography?
AC-The business side of it is challenging, there are times I wish I didn't have to deal with it. The paperwork, the followup, collecting money, being a bill collector, etc. I'm the CEO, COO, & CFO and all their Executive Assistants rolled into one package. I just want to SHOOT!!! LoL

BW-What is your fantasy shoot?
AC- I love a creative shoot where everything is in place, my favorite model is Angel Reigns, makeup artist is Josiah Immanuel Irby & EloStyleGuru on the Styling... Give us a dope location and we will take care of the rest.

BW- Thank you for giving a little insight into the man behind the camera.
